Favourite Place

My Favourite place in the whole world is Cyprus. We have been there about 8/9 times and I love it. I love the people, the weather, the flowers, the views, the smell - just about everything there I love. I am going again in October and can't wait, it feels so like home.

Here are some photos:

This is view from the balcony of my room.

Thought this was lovely with the wild flowers and the sea

Aphrodite Rock where you are supposed to swim round lots of times at midnight and then you receive eternal youth!!!!

I wish - I would soon learn to swim!!!

In Cyprus the sunsets are wonderful, the sun so big and it lights up the whole sky as you can see here. Although when you are there it is much more spectacular.

My Lacemaking

This is a Torchon fan that I made
and I attached it to the Springetts
fan sticks

This Rhino I made from a pattern in the Lace Guild Magazine
I found him complicated to make, but enjoyed the challenge.

I loved making this butterfly and had it framed and on my wall for many years.

I am now learning Bucks Point lace making so watch this space for new photos.

My Pets

Jem as a kitten

These pictures are Jem aged 6years

This was my lovely Smike, he died a few years ago but was always a lovely cat. So gentle.

This is another poem passed to me by a dear friend:

My Baby

Not flesh of my flesh

Nor bone of my bone

Yes somehow miraculously my own

NEVER FORGET for a single minute

You weren't born under my heart

BUT in it

This is a poem my late Sister used to read to me when we were kids because it had my name in it, so it is now quite special to me.

FIVE EYES

Walter de la Mare

In Hans' old mill his three black cats
Watch the bins for the theiving rats
Whisker and claw, they crouch in the night
Their five eyes smouldering green and bright

Squeaks from the flour sack, squeaks from where,
The cold wind stirs on the empty stair
Squeaking and scampering everywhere.

Then down they pounce, now in, now out,
With whisking tail and sniffing snout
While lean old Hans he snores all day
Till peep of light, at break of day

Then up he climbs to his creaking mill
Out comes his cats all grey with meal
Jekkel, Jessop and one eyed Jill

In Hans' old mill his three black cats
Watch the bins for the thieving rats
Whisker and claw they crouch in the night
Their five eyes, smouldering green and bright.

My Dolls House

My dolls house is a window
Into another world
When ladies were so elegant
And children seen and not heard
When toys were neatly put away
Into the proper place
The kitchen, lounge and dining room
Always ready to be graced

The piano stands proudly
In the corner of the room
The rocking horse is waiting
For the children coming soon
The garden and its picket fence
Frame everything so clearly
Is it any wonder
That your mind can wonder freely

Look inside the kitchen
When dinner comes around
Cook all a fluster
As servants gather round
Hoping that the tasty duck
Is roasted to perfection
And the apple pie for afters
Gets the usual glowing mention

This pink Victorian residence
Is a picture on the past
When chairs and tables, beds and baths
Were really meant to last.

When gas light lit up every home
And "dolly" certainly wasn't a sheep
Perhaps we ought to stay in here
And find a bed to sleep
